btc opportunity In the world market place, there are three dominant wire line technologies that are used to provide broadband services: Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Cable, and Fiber. Of the three, DSL suffers from two significant draw backs: variations in speed due to noise and distance and the inability of the technology to provide any service over distances of 5km (the "Last Mile"). These limitations have hampered the Carriers ability to meet the emerging needs of consumers. Offerings such as higher speed data services, VoIP, IPTV, gaming, and interactive applications are not possible. Due to these constraints, Carriers are being forced to consider more costly solutions to meet consumer requirements in order to remain competitive. Current solutions will take many years to implement at considerable capital expense. Almost every element of the network infrastructure - hardware, operating support systems, and customer premise equipment will have to be changed in order to employ these solutions. |
The btc solution looks to eliminate Carrier problems and provide a cost effect way of delivering premium services with higher margins.
